在成都，有一个普通的社区叫桐梓林，这里生活着全球40多个国家的老外。就在三年前，有一位退了休的美国老头漂洋过海来到这里，在桐梓林社区当起了主任助理。

Tongzilin is an ordinary neighborhood in Chengdu where live foreign residents from over 40 countries. Three years ago, a retired American gentleman settled here and worked as assistant to the director of the Tongzilin neighborhood.

桐梓林社区，位于成都市区南面，二环路与中环路之间，城市中轴线以西，优越的地理方位，方便闲适的生活，吸引了众多驻蓉领事机构以及世界五百强企业汇聚于此，世界多元文化在此交融。据统计，居住在成都的外籍人士，有40%生活在桐梓林社区，他们来自全球40多个国家。

Situated in the south of Chengdu, Tongzilin is right between the 2nd Ring Road and Zhonghuan Road

It is next to the urban axis. It attracts both foreign consulates and Fortune 500 companies to settle in with the advantageous location and convenient life. It’s a multicultural neighborhood. Statistics show that 40% of Chengdu’s foreigners from over 40 countries are living in the neighborhood of Tongzilin.

作为成都“老外们”居住最为集中的社区，为了保障他们的生活水平与居住环境，社区中心产生了在社区招募“洋助理”的想法。

Since it has the most foreign residents in Chengdu, the community center came up with the idea to hire a foreign assistant to provide better services.

2015年，约翰的妻子安妮收到工作邀请，成为了成都一所国际学校的老师，为学校的外籍小学生教授自然科学。退了休的约翰也随妻子一起来到了成都，然而，这座远隔重洋的城市却并没有让他产生陌生感。

In 2015，Anne, John’s wife got a job teaching foreign students natural science at an international school in Chengdu. John, a retiree, came to Chengdu with Anne.

However, he didn’t find himself a stranger in the new city.

在桐梓林，几乎每天都会有新来的外国“蓉漂”入住，对“洋助理”约翰来说，接待外籍居民，为他们提供服务与帮助成为了他的日常工作。为了更好地了解外籍居民在社区里的居住情况，约翰与另一位来自马来西亚的社区助理陈嘉敬组建起了巡逻队。

In Tongzilin, almost every day there is a new foreigner moving in. John’s job involves receiving them and helping them to settle in to the neighborhood. To have a better idea of the situation of the foreigner residents, John and Chen Jiajing, also an assistant from Malaysia, created a patrol team.

在桐梓林的这家超市里，能买到来自全球各地的进口食品和调料。喜欢下厨的约翰常常在这里一逛就是一两个小时。

John loves shopping here for an hour or two.

这就是老外约翰的桐梓林社区生活，作为全成都外籍人士最集中的居住区，桐梓林社区的蜀都味与国际范儿让外国“蓉漂”在这里感受到了家的温暖和舒适。未来，成都还将建设45座国际社区，迎接越来越多来自全球各地的朋友们。
