英国人凯瑞是一名建筑设计师，生活在成都9年的他一直有一个疑问，作为一座拥有1600多万人口的超级城市，成都是如何在快速城市化与绿色休闲生活方式之间找到平衡的？一座城市将如何做，才能让人与人、人与城市更加接近呢？

Kam is an architecture designer from the UK. Having lived in Chengdu for 9 years, he always has a question for this city. Chengdu increases its population to 16 million, so how does this city find balance  between rapid urbanization and leisurely lifestyle? How does Chengdu bring people closer to each other, and to the city?

为了寻找答案，凯瑞去到了始建于1911年的成都人民公园，在这里泛舟湖上，或茶馆闲坐，都让人感受到鲜活的生命力。在凯瑞眼里，闲适的时光背后，蕴藏着的是一种内心的平静。

To look for answers, Kam went to People's Park in Chengdu. Built in 1911, this park where people tend to paddle a boat or sit in tea houses around, looks surprisingly lively and energetic. Kam believes that behind all the leisurely moments is your inner peace.

在成都南面最大的滨河生态公园——江滩公园，凯瑞发现这里就像在林立高楼大厦间的一片小“绿洲”。半个世纪前，著名城市学家刘易斯·芒福德说过这样一句话：“城市应当是一个爱的器官，最好的经济模式是关怀和陶冶人。”

Jiangtan Park is the largest riverside ecological park in the south of Chengdu. Kam found here a little "oasis" surrounded by modern buildings. Half a century ago, a well-known urbanologist Lewis Mumford once said, “The great city is the best organ of memory man has yet created. The best mode of an economy is through caring and cultivating human beings.”

在凯瑞看来，这正是成都的公园城市经验之于当下中国的价值——聚焦的是人民日益增长的美好生活需要。凯瑞说，江滩公园像一个景区，又有各种运动场景，方便居住在这里的人们随时随地进入，感受体育竞技带来的生机与活力。

In Kam's view, this is exactly the value of Chengdu's park city experience to China today- focusing on the people's growing needs for a better life. Kam said that Jiangtan Park is like a scenic spot with various sports scenes, which are convenient for people living here to enter anytime to feel the vitality brought by sports competition.

凯瑞的最后一站是位于成都东面的龙泉山城市森林公园。在《城市的胜利》一书中，哈佛大学教授、著名城市经济学家爱德华·格莱泽曾这样说：城市是人类最伟大的发明与最美好的希望，城市的未来将决定人类的未来。

The last stop of Kam was Longquan Mountain Urban Forest Park. In the book The Trumph of the City by Havard professor, famous urban economist Edward Glaeser states that, "The city is our greatest invention and our best wish. Our future relies on the future of the city."

在凯瑞看来，当成都运用其得天独厚的自然条件，将这片富饶的土地作为城市之心，这是成都交给世界的一份兼顾城市发展及自然生态保护的最好答卷，而公园，是城市赠与人们的一份礼物。

In Kam's perspective, when Chengdu utilizes its unique advantages which are richly endowed by nature, making this land under our feet as the “heart” of our city. A park city that gives hope is the key to find balance between the development of the city and ecological environmental preservation. And park is a gift from the city to people.
